About Aerospace Engineering, MSc - at Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL)

Course descriptionThe programme aims to prepare specialists with advanced skills in computational modelling, numerical techniques and in-depth understanding in engineering approaches to aerospace problems, with particular emphasis on space, aerodynamics and flight simulation. Upon completing this programme you should be able to develop novel computational and technology products for the aerospace industries.Course contentThe course structure is designed to appeal to students with a science and engineering background and is modular in format.The course comprises eight modules:Applied Mathematics Numerical Methods Mechanics of Continua Research Methods and Experimental Techniques Space Mission Engineering Computational Methods for Aerospace Fluid Dynamics and Acoustics Advanced Topics in Aerodynamics Advanced Flight Control and Simulation of Aerospace Vehicles Design of Engineering Systems. A further four specialised modules will enable you to gain proficiency in highly advanced fields, such as: Space mission engineering Flight control and simulation Computational fluid dynamics for aerospace Advanced aerodynamics and engineering systems.AssessmentThe methods of assessment are coursework and formal examinations, which take place in May. Many courses will include continuous assessment and some or all of the work during the course will count towards the final mark. Students achieving the more than 50 per cent average on the taught modules will progress to the MSc dissertation project that will be conducted under close supervision during the summer term, from June to August. Successful completion of the project will lead to the award of MSc in Aerospace Engineering.Entry requirementsBEng degree (minimum 2.2 or equivalent) in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate proficiency. The minimum requirements are IELTS 6.5, TOEFL (CBT) 243, TOEFL (written test). Each application is individually assessed; you are recommended to write for guidance in specific cases.
