Today’s political scientists seek to address some of the biggest issues facing human society. Questions concerning government policies aimed at achieving economic stability and growth, how to reduce the gap between the rich and poor, the role of Non-Government Organisations, the best ways to affect positive social and political change, geopolitics, protecting and strengthening democratic institutions, and the path to enduring world peace are all on the research agenda of contemporary political scientists.
The iCLA’s major in Political Science explores these areas from a multidisciplinary perspective. Our program enhances your ability to think critically and apply analytical reasoning in pursuit of researching the causes behind issues facing society and laying out the path solving them.
The interdisciplinary curriculum at iCLA allows you to acquire the quantitative skills required in this field through courses like economics, mathematics, statistics, and research methods. You can then supplement these with the range of electives on offer in Data Science, Quantitative Reasoning, Psychology or Sociology. Combining courses from these various interconnected subject areas maximizes your ability to look holistically at your chosen field and allows you to understand it in a comprehensive manner.
The Political Science major at iCLA prepares you to meet the challenges facing modern society and fulfill your academic and career aspirations in the areas of politics and policy (local or national government, government services, diplomacy and intelligence, and public relations), nonprofit work (national or international non-governmental organizations, community organizing and planning, mass media or social media, and general education or academia), business (healthcare and social assistance, social enterprise, policy analyst, market research analyst, e-governance).

All applicants must hold, or be expected to hold upon entry to iCLA, a high school diploma equivalent to a Japanese senior high school graduation, having completed 12 years of education.
It is optional to submit a standardized test or university entrance qualification exam such as the SAT test.
Language Requirements
Non-native English speaking students must demonstrate English language proficiency with a TOEFL iBT score of 76, an IELTS score of 6.0, a Duolingo score of 95 or by providing an equivalent accepted English language qualification as shown in “Appendix A” of the Application Guidelines. In principle, this requirement is waived for native English speaking students.
There is no requirement for Japanese language proficiency to enter iCLA.
iCLA offers a tuition fee reduction scholarship from 25%, 50%, 75% up to 100%. All international students can apply for the scholarship program as part of the online admission process. And if awarded, the scholarship will cover the full four years of the studies at iCLA.
