Study a Publishing Masters abroad in 2025

Take your publishing career to the next level.

A masters degree in publishing is a good opportunity to develop your knowledge of the publishing and literary industry. Usually taking 1-2 years to complete when studied full-time, a publishing masters degree will cover subject areas such as illustration in publishing, marketing and publicity, and publishing law. Depending on your course, you might study specific genres as specialist modules.

Completing a masters degree abroad as an international student is a good way to immerse yourself in a new culture, and study alongside like minded peers. This is not only a good experience for you, it also looks great on your CV or resume.

Admission Requirements

Admission to a masters degree in publishing usually requires a bachelors degree in publishing or a related subject. Some universities will accept students who have degrees in other fields. Other academic requirements might apply, your university can provide more information about this.

You will also need to provide evidence of your language proficiency in the teaching language. If this is English, you can do this with IELTS or TOEFL test results, which are two of the most widely accepted English language tests.

International students are required to pay tuition fees in most countries. You might be eligible for financial assistance, like a scholarship or grant. It is important that you do your research to understand the cost of studying abroad, and what financial aid is available to you.

Careers

Graduates of a masters degree in publishing will have an advanced knowledge of the literary sector, which can help you to work towards a more senior position, or change career focus. You might choose to work in one of the many roles within publishing, or pursue further studies, such as a PhD or research.
