Explore the world of horses like never before.
A bachelor's degree in equine science, which is sometimes called equine studies, is an opportunity to turn your passion for horses into a fulfilling and rewarding career. Normally taking 3-4 years to complete, an equine science degree can cover a range of modules, including biology, animal science, equitation science, and equestrian studies. You will delve into the world of horses, learning about their anatomy, physiology, behaviour, and care, preparing you for a variety of careers in the equine industry.
Studying abroad as an international student not only gives you the chance to explore new cultures but also allows you to gain a degree from a university that specialises in equine studies. You'll build lifelong friendships and form a professional network with peers who share your passion for horses.
Admission Requirements
To pursue a bachelor's degree in equine science, you will usually need a high school diploma or the equivalent. Some universities may prefer that you have previously studied biology, chemistry, or other related sciences. Additionally, a background in horse riding or equestrian activities might look good on your application, but isn't necessarily a strict requirement.
You will likely have to provide evidence of your language proficiency. If your course is taught in English and you are not exempt from language requirements, you can do this with IELTS and TOEFL test results. These are two of the most widely accepted English language tests around the world.
Tuition Fees
Tuition fees for an equine science degree can vary based on where you are from and where you choose to study. You might be eligible for a scholarship or grant, which can help with the costs of studying abroad, especially for international students. It's important to do your research before applying for any financial assistance.
Careers
Graduates with a bachelor's degree in equine science have a wide range of career paths open to them. You might choose to pursue further studies, such as a masters degree in equine science or a related field, or look for a job. Potential career options include equine nutritionist, horse trainer, equine welfare officer, or stable manager. Your skills will also be desirable in roles within teaching, research, and equine therapy.
