Study a Classics degree in the UK in 2025

If you are fascinated by ancient history and how it has contributed to today's society, discover ancient Greek and Latin literature and culture through studying a degree in Classics. You will study the ancient Greek and Latin languages, and learn about the political and intellectual history of these two great cultures.

Graduates of Classics degrees will have developed strong transferable skills such as a mastery of linguistics and depth of knowledge of literature, and strong communication skills. Career paths can include museum curation, academia and higher education, civil services and local government, journalism and heritage work.

Your degree will be delivered in a mixture of modes, including lectures, tutorials, seminars and group projects. Depending on your course, you may also have the option to take part in a work placement. Modules you study could include:

  • Ancient history
  • Archaeology
  • Greek language
  • Latin language
  • The Roman empire
