As an academic field, banking looks at the functioning of financial markets, as well as how businesses and corporations manage their different asset types. As a banker, you will play an important role in the provision and management of financial and banking services, including those offered to the public, as well as corporations and institutions. In a world that is becoming increasingly international and inter-reliant, your skills in banking will be in high demand as countries and businesses work together more closely.
Modules you study might include applied economics and statistics, financial accounting, decision making and control, micro/macro economics, and financial markets and institutions. Your degree will be delivered in a mixture of modes. These could include lectures and seminars, as well as group projects. Depending on your course, you may also be able to take part in a work placement.
