This advanced thesis-based Masters Degree provides graduates with the option of pursuing a Doctoral Degree or to apply the state of the art knowledge they have acquired by delivering results and innovation through critical thinking and integrated problem-solving leadership.

Notes about fees for this course

Fees are an estimation and are based on tuition for sixteen (16) months or four (4) academic terms. Does not include Incidental Fees ($2,000*), Textbooks ($2,000*), Living Expenses and Meals ($12,000*).

Entry requirements

Undergraduate degree in engineering (BASc, BSc, BEng, or equivalent) with at least B (73%) average, 1st class/division placement, and no more than 2 failures/resits/backlogs in all 4 years

CV/Resume

For applicants whose native language is not English, an English language proficiency test score (TOEFL - 580/237/92, MELAB - 80, CAEL - 70, IELTS - 6.5) is required

- Applications welcomed throughout the year (no deadline)

- Admission offers made by Office of the Registrar, Grad Studies Div

- Minimum Admission Average = B (undergraduate degree)

- Minimum TOEFL = 600 (required if English not primary language)

- GRE recommended for non North American Bachelors Degree

- Thesis or Major Paper Option

Thesis: A thesis incorporating the results of an original investigation is required of all candidates except those students who are doing non-thesis research toward a major paper. Before writing the thesis the student must meet with the Master's committee to obtain permission to write the thesis. The Master's committee will grant this permission when the student has shown sufficient competence and has accomplished substantial research. After completion of the thesis, each candidate will be required to make a satisfactory oral presentation and defense of the thesis.

Major Paper: For those candidates doing non-thesis research, a major paper is required. The topic of the major paper is normally research based on the existing literature in the field of study. The candidate will be required to make an acceptable oral presentation to the Master's committee based on the major paper.

The following are many different types of English proficiency tests that the university accepts with the minimum required scores:
