While studying in our department you will learn the basics of organic synthesis, which is one of the important skills of every chemist and is difficult to catch up during further studies or practice. Even if you change majors in the future, basic synthetic experience is important for a general overview and perspective of chemistry. In addition to synthesis and its application in various fields of organic chemistry (catalysis, organocatalysis, bioorganic chemistry, synthesis of labeled compounds), we offer a focus towards physical organic chemistry, where you can learn one of the most important analytical methods - mass spectrometry - while investigating the mechanisms of organic reactions.
