A graduate is trained to perform individual as well as collaborative scientific and pedagogical tasks. Has insight into geography, is able to apply theoretical and methodological approaches of natural and social sciences to propose solutions for complex problems in Czech and international context. Is able to apply integrative approaches developed within geography and neighbouring disciplines to promote solutions within problem-oriented interdisciplinary basic and applied research. Through utilization of field and qualitative research methods, historical sources and modern geoinformation technologies, analyzes, understands and interprets development, processes and mechanisms leading to environmental transformations, driving forces behind landscape and regional changes on various geographical scales, in diverse periods, environmental and societal contexts; understands the nature of environmental and societal risks; develops synthesizing conclusions on transformations of landscapes and nature-society interactions. Is prepared to work in academic, decisive, commercial and non-profit sectors.
The purpose of the study programme is to enable successful students of the pre-graduate master programme Landscape and society and of related geographical and neighbouring disciplines to develop holistic and integrative approaches to study of long-term landscape changes, to understand transformations of nature-society interactions, and to apply gained abilities within complex landscape management and protection practices as well as within local and regional development.
