Data analysts use their specialist skills to help organisations make more effective business decisions. We're one of the first Russell Group universities to offer this subject at undergraduate level.
This degree will allow you to apply data analysis skills in companies and organisations, using statistical analysis to support evidence-based decision-making. You'll study economics, organisational behaviour, marketing and management decision-making to give you an understanding of the modern business environment. In addition, you can tailor your degree to suit your own interests through your choice of optional modules on topics such as sports analytics, business economics and advertising.
Demand for experts in business analytics is growing rapidly, and the University of Leeds is at the forefront of developments in this area. Informed by the world-class research in our Centre for Decision Research, this course will give you the in-depth knowledge and skills to thrive in a fast-growing sector.
Course content
Our degrees have a modular structure. This means that compulsory modules provide you with the core knowledge and skills that you need, while optional and discovery modules allow you to shape your course to suit your personal interests and career aspirations.
Compulsory modules in Year 1 will give you a broad knowledge and skills base. You'll be introduced to economic theory, organisational behaviour and management decision-making to put the role of analytics in the context of the business environment, as well as exploring some of the key methods and techniques used in analytics. An optional module will also allow you to explore topics such as sports analytics or marketing.
In the following year you'll build on this with compulsory modules in microeconomics and how business decisions are made, as well as deepening your knowledge of analytics techniques and practices. You could also choose from optional modules on diverse topics within economics, information management and other areas.
