Programme Aims and Features

The BBA and BBA(Acc&Fin) programmes share the same programme code. Students are required to enrol in either one of these programmes on admission.

The BBA programme combines strong functional training with intensive training in communication skills, computer applications and other social science and/or science subjects. Students can choose to major in one of the following five majors: (i) entrepreneurship, design and innovation, (ii) human resource management, (iii) information systems, (iv) marketing, or (v) wealth management. Students can also declare a minor or a second major if they are able to meet the course's requirements.

The BBA(Acc&Fin) programme prepares students for a professional qualification in accounting and provides the broad-based education necessary to progress towards a leadership role in the financial sector. Tailor-made professional preparation programmes and internship opportunities with renowned accounting firms and financial institutions are available for talented students.

Professional Recognition

The BBA(Acc&Fin) programme has been accredited as an approved accountancy degree programme under the Qualification Programme (QP) of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA). Graduates of the programme are eligible for direct entry to the QP, provided that they have sat and passed the subjects as listed in the approved curriculum for meeting QP's pre-entry competency requirements. In addition, graduates of BBA(Acc&Fin) are exempted from the foundation level of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examination scheme. They must take all the non-exemptible papers at the professional level to fulfil the examination requirements for ACCA membership. Non-local BBA(Acc&Fin) graduates are eligible for Associate membership of CPA Australia provided that they have completed all required core curriculum subjects. They canadvance to CPA status in the manner stipulated by CPA Australia.

Graduates of BBA and BBA(Acc&Fin) programmes are eligible for earning the Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA), with part of the CIMA examinations exempted, provided that they have completed all required subjects specified in the CIMA mapping guidance.

Notes about fees for this course

You (or your parents) only need to pay a fraction of the cost of education in Hong Kong, even though our educational standards are at an international level. We value what you bring to HKU, in terms of your background and culture, and our fees are set at a level that students everywhere can afford, as long as your academic results are good enough!

Entry requirements

If you take the International Baccalaureate Diploma, GCE A-level/International A-Level, SAT/AP or All India Senior School Certificate Examination and Indian School Certificate, please take note of the standards as below:

  • International Baccalaureate Diploma - 35, candidates should have completed the full IB Diploma, including CAS, TOK, and the Extended Essay.
  • GCE A-Level/International A-Level - 3A's, candidates should present at minimum of 3 A-level subjects, excluding English and Chinese language.
  • SAT Reasoning Test/ACT plus Writing and SAT Subject Test/Advanced Placement Test - Redesigned SAT: 1350, SAT Subject Tests: 600 in each of the 3 subjects, AP Exams: Level 4 in each of the 3 subjects
  • All India Senior School Certificate Examination and Indian School Certificate - 93%, Candidates should present a minimum of 5 subjects in the Grade 12 Indian Board examinations.
